Lake Dallas is a small city of about 7,700 people (2020 census) on the shores of Lewisville Lake in Denton County. It's one of the four "Lake Cities," along with our hometown of Corinth, Hickory Creek and Shady Shores. The community was first called French Settlement in the 1850s, took the name Garza when the railroad came through in 1881, and was renamed Lake Dallas in the late 1920s after the original Lake Dallas reservoir was built. It incorporated in 1965. Today it's a quiet, established town with some of the most affordable homes in southern Denton County, right on I-35E.
About 33 homes are listed in Lake Dallas, from about $120,000 to $600,000. The average list price is about $350,000, for roughly 1,800 square feet at about $197 per square foot. For single-family homes, about 18 are priced under $350,000 and about 13 are $350,000 and up. Live MLS data as of October 31, 2026; see the Lake Dallas market report for current numbers.
